Editor's Note -- October 12, 2010
"Having been on both the successful and perilous receiving ends of social media, I remain a committed fan."
In response to a Twitter friend invitation, I posted a message on her blog about how social media changed my life. In my case, the topic obviously deserves a dissertation or a book, which I might write one day; but for the purpose of her research I expressed in one graph how I honestly feel at this point in time. Hope you enjoy the blog, full quotes included.

Keep the conversation going...
Although our experiences with social media have been vastly different, I wholeheartedly agree with your message, both here and most importantly Oct. 13.
I believe that, with social media we now have no excuse for remaining silent when our wisdom can influence people. Even in the face of rudeness or hostility, measured words politely written can change the negative tide.
As Octavia says, social media is young and our responsibility is to use it and mold it into what we believe it should be. We can no longer say, "Of course, the media is against us," because now WE ARE the media.
